a.       There are 7 facial shapes

b.      Heart shape needs to shade the wide forehead and the pointed chin

c.       Diamond shape needs shading most on the high cheek bones

d.      Liquid foundations are water base

e.      Foundation can make the skin look flawless and smooth

f.        Cream foundation is heavy in texture with an oily feeling, but gives an excellent coverage to skin blemishes

g.       The main purpose of using a translucent powder is to set the foundation

h.      The proper way to apply loose powder is to use a translucent powder is to set the foundation

i.         Another common name for blusher is cheek color or rouge

j.        For round face shape, the cheek color is applied closer to the sides of the nose

k.       For long shape face, the cheek color is applied not lower than the tip of the nose

l.         Eye shadow color is applied to the eye area to accentuate the eyes

m.    The proper way to apply eye shadow to the eye is by using sponge tipped applicator

n.      Eyeliner will produce the effect of framing the eyes

f.        Evening make-up colors are of more dramatic tones and colors

g.       A truly glamorous evening make-up includes the use of frosted eye shadows and bold lips

h.      A proper way to select foundation colors for the client is hold a few shades near her skin or applied to the jaw line

i.         For extra glamour, substitute translucent face powder with gold, bronze, or frosted powder

j.        Evening make-up are stunning especially in candlelight

k.       Eye shadow colors for evening make-up are darker and stronger than day make-up

l.         For a glamorous evening look, add plenty of gloss to the lip

m.    To fill in the lips to act as lip liner you can use darker lip color to line the lip

n.      Highlighting and pearlish colors are used to create a sparkling effect for the evening make-up

o.      Oil molecule is weighted the most heavier in a cream foundation

p.      To complement glamorous night eyes for the evening, choose colored mascara

q.      If darker colors are used for the evening make-up, the lipstick should also be of a darker shade

d.      Colors are classified as warm or cool colors

e.      A tertiary color is created by mixing secondary color and a primary in equal amounts

f.        Almost all greens are members of the cool family

g.       Brown is a member of the warm family

h.      Purple is a member of the cool family

i.         Yellow + blue is mix to get green color

j.        Black is a neutral color

k.       Orange is a warm color

l.         Blue is a cool color

m.    Red combines well with blue

n.      Purple combines well with pink

o.      Blue combines well with red

p.      Black combines well with light pink

q.      Green combines well with yellow

r.        Blue + red = violet / purple

PREPARE MAKE-UP WORK AREA:

a.       Preparation of work area is done before the client arrives

b.      A good make-up mirror should be lighted up with the combination of fluorescent & tungsten (incandescent) lights as it balance up the makeup effect

c.       The face tends to flatten when the client is in a prone position

d.      Make-up chairs or couches are to be lifted back to no more than 45 degree angle

e.      All materials used for make-up should be kept separate and well organized

f.        The make-up area should be cleaned and tidied after each make-up

g.       All make-up tools and materials should be sterilized before and after use

h.      If client comes in for a make-up only it is not necessary to have her change into a salon gown, but it is of courtesy to ask her whether she would like to change

i.         It is preferred that the make-up chair have a head rest to hold client’s head steady during the make-up

j.        The size of the make-up case will depend upon the amount of space that is available in the make-up area

k.       A person who does make-up for brides, models and actresses is called a make-up artist

l.         Incandescent light bulbs produce red and yellow light rays and when used alone give a warmer and more flattering color

m.    Fluorescent bulbs produce green and blue rays which tend to be cool and harsh

n.      A combination of incandescent and fluorescent bulbs are used to balance the light

o.      It is considered unprofessional to move from one side of the chair to the other when applying make-up

p.      Items that are reusable must be sterilized and placed in a clean container until ready for use

q.      Whether the make-up chair is adjustable or not, it should be at a height that the make-up artist can apply the make-up without uncomfortable stooping or bending during the make-up
