PREPARE MAKE-UP WORK AREA - Scenefis Makeup Teaching Materials

PREPARE MAKE-UP WORK AREA:

a.       Preparation of work area is done before the client arrives
b.      A good make-up mirror should be lighted up with the combination of fluorescent & tungsten (incandescent) lights as it balance up the makeup effect
c.       The face tends to flatten when the client is in a prone position
d.      Make-up chairs or couches are to be lifted back to no more than 45 degree angle
e.      All materials used for make-up should be kept separate and well organized
f.        The make-up area should be cleaned and tidied after each make-up
g.       All make-up tools and materials should be sterilized before and after use
h.      If client comes in for a make-up only it is not necessary to have her change into a salon gown, but it is of courtesy to ask her whether she would like to change
i.         It is preferred that the make-up chair have a head rest to hold client’s head steady during the make-up
j.        The size of the make-up case will depend upon the amount of space that is available in the make-up area
k.       A person who does make-up for brides, models and actresses is called a make-up artist
l.         Incandescent light bulbs produce red and yellow light rays and when used alone give a warmer and more flattering color
m.    Fluorescent bulbs produce green and blue rays which tend to be cool and harsh
n.      A combination of incandescent and fluorescent bulbs are used to balance the light
o.      It is considered unprofessional to move from one side of the chair to the other when applying make-up
p.      Items that are reusable must be sterilized and placed in a clean container until ready for use
q.      Whether the make-up chair is adjustable or not, it should be at a height that the make-up artist can apply the make-up without uncomfortable stooping or bending during the make-up
